Leica Q2

My first Leica :)

Leica Q2
★★★★★

Obviously in a different build category: hefty, sturdy, nothing wiggles, beautiful. Very impressive image quality, good for cropping in to reframe a street photography shot. Which I do a lot when I run and gun and don't have time to compose properly but see something interesting that needs a bit of reframing in post. I'd love the larger 60mp sensor of the Q3 to have even more flexibility for cropping OR a 35mm lens, but am getting the hang of the 28 (which is a pretty wide 28, as a lot of people on the YouTube confirm). Overall awesome 4 stars.

Nikon Zf — heritage looks, modern guts

Just got the Zf and it sure has some heft to it. But very clean pics so far, good enough to handle with the Smallrig grip and makes me want to go out and shoot. Using it with the also new Thypoch Simera 28mm 1.4, Nikon 40mm f2 and my vintage Contax lenses (35mm, 100mm macro, 135mm). I did end up selling it after 3 months. Three things didn't work for me: 1. The form factor, it's too big and heavy for an EDC 2. I wanted to use it for manual focusing but didn't have the patience to get the hang of it, especially infinity focus didn't work well enough 3. 24MP is not enough for the kind of cropping I like to do.

Fujifilm X-T3

An everyday carry with soul

Fujifilm X-T3

Loved it for its weight, ease of shooting and great IQ when the light was good. Not loving the low light capabilities as much and I'm just more of a bigger sensor fan. Also love the Fuji X-mount lenses, they in themselves are a reason to go X mount. 4 stars, only because I'm a pixel peeper.

Amazing build and fun to shoot

Gorgeous lens, super well built. Absolutely sharp enough when you hit the manual focus right. Using it on the Zf, which makes manual focusing easier thanks to its clever zoom feature. I wish it had electronic contacts so the camera would recognize it and you'd get the green focusing box, that's why it's one star off. But otherwise very cool lens, love it.

Travel tripod that earns its weight

Fast to slide out and back in, sturdy enough for the Fuji GFX, what else do you want? Maybe a some easier to manipulate ball head but the portability is worth a little inconvenience (to me). I typically don't use a tripod unless I do portrait sessions, and portability is super important for me.
